Beloved by their owners since they first came on the market, the South Coast 36 is a roomy, easily sailed, safe and stable passage maker.
She is seaworthy and sea kindly. The centre cockpit gives a feeling of safety and the aft cabin is the best location for comfort at anchor: cutter rigged, long keeled cutaway forward. Well equipped for coastal cruising.
A detailed Maintenance Log goes with the sale.
The galley has a new 12 V refrigerator (Oct 2022) and a new LPG two burner and oven stove (Jun 2023). Twin sinks, ice box. Storage for at least ten days provisions.
The main cabin is aft with double bunk, adequate storage, a large hatch and a fan. Accessed by passageway from the galley.
The saloon table converts to a double bunk.
The forward cabin has a single full size bunk and an extension. Large storage lockers and space.
There is a 12V/240V TV with active aerial and a GME AM/FM radio, speakers in the cabin and the cockpit.
The toilet is electric: direct discharge and holding tank.
The engine is a Perkins 4.108 diesel, 40 HP. It has 6000 hours but is still in good condition through regular servicing (latest Mar 2023), injectors reconditioned (May 2019).
She cruises at 5 knots at 2000 to 2200 rpm using 4 litres/hour. Replacement 90 litre high density polyethelene fuel tank (May 2019).
There is a 100 AHr Start battery and 2 x 100 AHr House batteries charged by the main engine and by the Silent Wind generator and 3 x 100W solar panels through a combined regulator.
240V shore power charges the batteries through a CTek 15A charger and also powers a light and a few power points.
A 750W petrol generator provides for power tools and emergency charging. The chart table has multiple USB charging points and a cigarette lighter socket.
Water is a 100 litre tank with foot pump to the galley and 200 litre tank with electric pump for galley and shower. Figures approximate.
A heat exchange from the engine to the shower and galley is fitted but not connected.
The anchor is 20 kg Manson Supreme with approx. 90m of 10mm chain and 40m of 16mm nylon rode. The kedge anchor is an aluminium Fortress with recommended chain and 50m of 12mm nylon.
The anchor winch is a Muir 1250, installed Apr 2021, fitted with Up, Down and Free Fall. It is mounted on a stainless steel bowsprit.
The tender is a Quicksilver 2.5m airdeck (2021), 3 person and 400 kg capacity, mounted on substantial davits. The outboard is a 2.5 HP Mercury two stroke about 15 years old that runs well.
The cockpit is central with a hard dodger forward and canvas shade over the wheel and includes a fold down table, very suitable for meals.
Most sail lines lead to the cockpit which has one Barlow 32 and three Barlow 23 winches, all two speed self- tailing.
All standing rigging replaced January 2021.
The genoa (roller) and mainsail (two slab reefs) are near new (Nov 2021) from Hood with new boombag and lazy jacks. The staysail is older and in good condition.
The replaced sails are in useable condition and will be included if you want.
All navigation instruments are Raymarine integrated: chartplotter (touch), sounder, wind, autopilot, radar and AIS. VHF is ICOM DSC. Nav lights are all LED.
She has been slipped and antifouled (and prop speed) yearly, latest September 2022.
Design formulas show she has reasonable to good performance, is somewhat stiff (doesn't roll too much), and suitable for high-end coastal cruising to low-end ocean cruising.
Well suited and equipped for extended coastal cruising. Add your personal gear and go. .
