Introducing 'Virgil', a Fusion 40 purchased by the present owners in 2015. This Fusion was built by the Fusion factory in Airlie Beach, The boat was then completed by the original owner for launch in 2009. The owners have poured their years of experience as yacht delivery skippers into Virgil, resulting in a magnificent highly spec-ed 2009 top-of-the-line Fusion 40 blue water sailing catamaran. The Fusion was expertly designed by Gary Lidgard to cater to both practical cruising requirements and thrilling boating experiences.
Over the years, the current owners have invested in extensive improvements, culminating in a major refit in 2021.

This included;
950mm stern extensions based upon naval architect design, after digital scans of the boat to ensure best compatibility with the overall design;
3 stiffeners glassed under bridge deck to reduce slapping impact and stiffen overall structure (not in original Fusion design)
Complete bottom sandblast and reseal with 5 x coats of West System epoxy resin with West System 422 Barrier Coat additive;
5 x coats of Coppercoat epoxy bottom paint to ensure years of maintenance free sailing;
Complete deck respray with all new non-slip;
New toughened glass windows;
Complete redesign of deck gear layout and line management to simplify handling and lead all lines back to the safety of the cockpit;
All build work completed by renowned builder Jamie Morris of Aust Custom Multihulls;
Standing rigging replaced by S&H Rigging (2020);
Running rigging replaced including reefing lines.
SD20 saildrives completely rebuilt with all new bearings and seals by MMX (Boatworks), in addition to new engine mounts

In January 2022 Yancy Smith of Smith Sails (a highly renowned Qld sailmaker and previous owner of Doyles Sails, Qld) delivered and installed a new mainsail and jib, both Tri-Radial cut of DCX Polyester Cruise Laminate material.

In March 2022 new Electromaxx 140amp high output alternators were added to compliment the Lithium battery systems, with Serpentine Belt kits..

Plans were made for Fiji cruising in 2023. In furtherance of those plans;
A new Victron Power system was completed with 3 x Enerdrive BTec 200a/h batteries in parallel, and a Victron Multiplus 3000w Inverter/Charger;
New engine instrument panels installed 2023
4x new semi flexible185w solar panels were installed;
2 x Victron 140w solar panels installed on the targa totalling just over 1kw of solar power.
A new screecher of Tri-Radial cut Contender Stormlite 210 material built by Kore Sails including a new Karver 3T Large size Carbon single line furler.
2 x new Balmar MC 618 Alternator regulators with Centrefielder for alternator output management.
New jib and main halyards, and screecher/spinnaker sheets.

Well-maintained engines run efficiently at 2,500 rpm and reach 7.5 knots when not sailing with Gori 3 blade folding props.

In company with another Fusion 40, Virgil completed the Fiji cruise arrived back in Australia 27 August and is now avalible for inspection on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland..

Notes:
Virgil features the usual Fusion spacious and well-furnished interior, a large saloon with comfortable seating and a fully functional galley. Virgil features 2 x queen size cabins. The usual starboard stern cabin has been modified into a work room suitable for storage and working on those projects to enhance your sailing experience.

On deck, Virgil boasts the usual Fusion 40 wide cockpit and sun loungers, providing ample space for entertainment and relaxation, but with an extended hard Bimini to ensure protection from the sun. Sunscreens (Smith Sails) enclose the cockpit providing a cool breezy space to enjoy those tropical days and nights. The unique stern extensions on Virgil ensure a faster more stable boat in all conditions. In a recent 9 day passage from Southport to Fiji, Virgil averaged 9.8kts over the last 4 days of the passage. In addition the enlarged swim platforms are a great space to access your dinghy or just enjoy the water.

Virgil is currently avalible for inspection on the Sunshine Coast. If you would like a complete inventory one is attached to this ad. Further photos can now be generated so please do not hesitate to email.
If your looking for a good proven blue water cruising boat, then Virgil is the one for you.
