Curt Ashford 20m Schooner

SV Ishmael was built in 1975 in Honolulu - Hawaii (USA) by renowned classic boat builder Curt Ashford. She has internal Cedar diagonals with double layer of Mahogany strip planking combination below the water line making her strong and robust. She has solid Douglas Fir (Oregon pine) main masts and spars. Weighing in at approximately 35t she is an impressive sight on the water. She sailed through the South Pacific Islands with the original builder/owner before coming to the east coast of Australia. Her current owner Mark Goode purchased her in September 2021 on the Gold Coast. He has embarked on a comprehensive refurbishment program including the removal of the masts and replacement of all standing and running rigging. She was then sailed 1000nm to Southern Tasmania during July 2022. She featured as an exhibition sailing vessel in the Australian Wooden Boat Festival in February 2023.
