Step on and SAIL AWAY NOW!!!
Since purchase, we have been continually doing upgrades to Whirlpool to improve her comfort, safety and so that we can be off grid as much as possible to go cruising. Unfortunately, health concerns have brought us to the reluctant decision to sell Whirlpool.
After we 'stepped off' to go cruising North, we realised that nothing we could dream of was out of our reach.... Potentially.
Whirlpool is now in turn key condition ready for you to start your next adventure.
With 3 x 330W solar panels, 4 x 200ah useable lithium battery storage and 3000 W Victron inverter/charger all installed May 2021, there is more than enough power for all the creature comforts:
New hot water unit (installed June 2022)
Large TV in saloon and smaller TV with DVD player in main cabin (TV arial at mast head)
2 electric macerating toilets. One in guest cabin and a new, quiet flush, large bowl toilet in the aft, starboard bathroom/laundry.
AMI Maritime 300 water maker (approx. 50L/hr)
Washing machine
Microwave
Other kitchen appliances: milk frother, food processor, bullet blender
2 fridge/freezer units (total of 275L)
Air conditioner in main saloon
Vacuum cleaner
Just prior to our trip to Hervey Bay in June 2022, we purchased a Portable Honda EU22iT (2KVa) generator to make sure we didn't run short of power.
Designed by the renowned Roger Simpson of Sydney and professionally built by Peter Snell of 'Snell Easy' fame, Whirlpool is a well-constructed, proven cruising catamaran, quite comfortable in 30 knot winds. She is strong and stable and handles well under sail. Her solid bones and sails (main, genoa, jib and spinnaker) are all in good condition, make her sail ready for blue water cruising. Built in Landsborough, SE Queensland she was certainly made to last.
A reluctant sale, Whirlpool has so much going for her, in particular, her size, featuring enormous deck space, great for sundowners, comfortable, netting 'tramps' where we often lay and cuddle while sailing or motoring on autopilot, or at night while on anchor to watch the stars.
Whirlpool has a simple, yet very functional layout that has a very 'comfortable' feel about her.
She covers all bases: simple day sailing, extended family cruising and even entertaining multiple guests.
The bedding configuration can accommodate a varied tribe of people:
Double in main cabin with space on 3 sides to access for bed making.
Double and small single in guest cabin
¾ aft cabin
Chart plotter with AIS & radar, separate external GPS antenna, wind speed, depth and boat speed instruments all new Sept 2021.
Existing depth sounder is in starboard hull, new depth sounder transducer for port hull fitted May 2023 with new water speed transducer.
Whirlpool cockpit is enclosed on 3 sides, essential for sailing in warmer and wet climates, with more than adequate windows and hatch to allow for more than enough breeze through when wanted. Mostly these are closed to keep us comfortable and 'out of the weather' in the cockpit.
The structure for the solar panels extends over the transom and davits and provides for extra shade.
Helming is done from the offset and slightly elevated steering position, with excellent all-around visibility and uninterrupted contact with guests in the cockpit.
Whirlpool is very easy to sail two handed.
The galley down is located on the port side and fitted with 2 bowl sink, mixer tap, 2 burner gas stove, gas oven, microwave, 90L 'ICEER' Eutectic Fridge with 70L freezer above, other kitchen appliances as above, adequate bench space and storage for extended cruising. Https://www. Iceer. Com. Au/iceercustomrefrigeration
A separate 115L Brass Monkey fridge/freezer(new Dec 2021) is located in the saloon.
Whirlpool is powered by twin 3.110 HE 27hp Kubota diesel engines with Nanni marine conversions.
Nanni is well known in Australia being imported by Collins Marine in Sydney since 1978, a family-owned business now in its second generation. Https://www. Nannidiesel. Com. Au/about-us/
Gearboxes were removed & rebuilt in April 2023.
New 300L 'Atlas' water tanks (installed Nov 2021) combine with the AMI Maritime 300 water maker (approx. 50L/hr) to not only provide ample water for galley & showering, but at under 200ppm it tastes better for drinking.
If you are looking for a fully sea ready boat, ready to take you anywhere this is your dream boat.
She is a great vessel to commence your sailing dreams, explore the East Coast and further afield.
This is a great live aboard vessel and excellent extended cruising that will not disappoint.
For our comfort we have progressively equipped Whirlpool with lots of extras that will be included in the sale like:
Cutlery, crockery, food containers, pots and pans etc to fully equip the galley
Bamboo, mould resistant sheets mattress & pillow protectors for the double beds
Folding table & chairs x 4
Padded, deck lounging mats
Beach trolley
Floor mats
For any enquiries please phone owner on or email outlook. Com. Au
We would love to show Whirlpool off to you and spend time instructing you on all her systems after purchase.
We are currently making the most of Whirlpool before she sells by taking an extended cruise North up the Qld coast. Expected return late 2023.
